The Fighter

What Makes It So great?
Many originally thought this film would be the second coming off Rocky; however, it actually became a flawless story of its own. This in-depth and unique story about a Boston fighter, fighting for something more than boxing, hits the heart hard and keeps an audience on edge. Also, having Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale star in the film does not hurt either. This is a true story of Boston fighter Mickey Ward and his brother Dickie. From losses to drug incidents, the films dramatic tone is unbelievable.
Why Would A Teen Enjoy?
The action of the actual fights, and the dramatic character arcs are just some of the things teens would find interesting in The Fighter. Seeing things like Dickie suffer through withdrawal, and Micky struggling to forgive him are just part of what makes it so great. Teens would find interest in the boxing story as well as all the drama.
Where Does This Film Rank?
As David O. Russel's best film, The Fighter, in my opinion, is one of the greatest films of the 2010's. It won 2 Oscars for Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress. With those awards, it is easy to understand why many see the performances in this film as unbelievable. During a time where other great movies such as The Wolf Of Wall Street and Silver Linings Playbook came out, The Fighter has its own place as one of the great films of the era.
