What Makes It So Great?
While many Adam Sandler movies are touted for being too silly and over the top, Happy Gilmore finds the perfect balance between stupidity and a good story. The idea of the story is perfect as it sets up a situation where a hockey player become a golfer. With a good villain and a great main character, Happy Gilmore stands as one of the smartest comedy films of all time.
Why Would A Teen Enjoy?
My friends and I have used jokes from this movie time and time again. I truly believe most teens would find everything about Happy Gilmore to be funny. From the dialogue to the insane actions of Happy (the main character), the film does not miss a beat appealing to teens.
Where Does This Film Rank?
As far as Oscars go, Happy Gilmore was never intended to win Academy Awards. The movie was meant to stand as a historic comedic achievement, and it very much accomplished that goal. As Adam Sandler's 2nd mainstream movie, Happy Gilmore helped launch the brilliant career of Sandler. Many see Happy Gilmore as Sandler's best film, and I certainly agree with that.
